Beverly “Joan” (Gall) Spangle, age 75 years, of 8491 State Road 15 South, Claypool, Indiana left this life behind at 12:48 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012 after a courageous 16 month long battle against cancer.

She was born on December 30, 1936 in Claypool, Indiana to Edward Gall and Vergie (Cripe) Gall. She was married on May 1, 1954 to Kenneth A. Spangle, who survives.

She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana and a 1954 graduate of Claypool High School, Claypool, Indiana. Until her illness, Joan was employed by Warsaw Community Schools, in the cafeteria at Edgewood Middle School in Warsaw, Indiana for 35 years. She was a devoted wife of 58 years, a wonderful mother and a kind and generous grandmother. She will always be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband: Kenneth A. Spangle (Claypool, Indiana); two daughters: Cindy (husband Morris) Jones (Silver Lake, Indiana); Sharon (husband Jon) Lynch (Silver Lake, Indiana); two sons: James (wife Marcia) Spangle (Fort Wayne, Indiana); and Dan Spangle (Silver Lake, Indiana).

Grandmother to eight grandchildren: Joshua (wife Sarah) Spangle (Warsaw, Indiana); Ryann Jones (Portland, Maine); Amy (husband Brett) Leach (Warsaw, Indiana); Nicholas Spangle (Warsaw, Indiana); Morgan Jones (Brownsburg, Indiana); Austin Jones (Silver Lake, Indiana); Tanner Spangle (Warsaw, Indiana); Emily Lynch (Silver Lake, Indiana); and one great-granddaughter: Vivienne Spangle (Warsaw, Indiana).

Also surviving are one sister: Gladys (Betty) Hawn (Mishawaka, Indiana); three brothers: Melvin “Pete” Gall (South Whitley, Indiana); Donald (wife Patty) Gall (Elkhart, Indiana); and Harold (wife Martha) Gall (South Whitley, Indiana).

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, two sisters, and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Reverend Jim Teasdale. Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Silver Lake, Indiana.

Memorial donations in Joan’s name may be directed to Riley Hospital for Children, 702 Barnhill Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202; or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105 and would be appreciated by her family.
