Catherine Virginia Ours Evans

Catherine Virginia Ours Evans of Gallatin, Tennessee passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at the age of 97.

Mrs. Evans was born on January 2, 1916 in Hardy County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Alston Clyde Ours and Sarah Elizabeth Judy Ours. She was member of the First United Methodist Church in Gallatin, Tennessee and the First United Methodist Church of Claypool, Claypool, Indiana. She was a member of Colonial Dames XXVII Century, the DAR, Daughter of the Union Veterans, Daughter of the Confederacy and Daughter of the American Colonists.

She is survived by her son: Robert Evans (Gallatin, Tennessee); one sister: Nellie Mae Ours Leatherman (Old Fields, West Virginia); three grandchildren: Richard T. Evans (Gallatin, Tennessee); Christine (husband Joe) Shurannah (Huntsville, Alabama); and Danielle (husband Jeff) Smith (Gallatin, Tennessee). She also leaves behind five great grandchildren: Michael and Anna Shurannah; and Reid, Ethan and Catherine Smith; and her brother: George J. Ours (Moorefield, West Virginia).

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Quentin Evans and one brother Alston Clyde Ours, Jr.

Her visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, Tennessee.

There will also be visitation on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Her funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Redpath – Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Mike Settles. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Claypool, Indiana.

Memorial donations in Catherine’s name may be directed to Claypool United Methodist Church, 302 E. Section Street, Claypool, Indiana 46510 and would be appreciated by her family.
