Dennis “Denny” K. Strain of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at his residence at 2:40 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the age of 75.
He was born on July 16, 1944 in Decatur, Indiana to Marjorie (Gay) Strain and Richard Strain. On June 28, 1997 he was married to Connie Sue (Fox) Miller Strain.
Denny graduated from High School in North Manchester, Indiana and then proudly enlisted on February 25, 1964 and served in the U.S. Army and subsequently in the Army National Guard. He earned his bachelors degree from IUPU of Fort Wayne. Denny had worked in Sales for various plumbing and heating supply companies for 50 years. He had worked for a number of years at Trick’s in North Manchester, Walmer Supply in Warsaw and he retired from Central Supply in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He had been a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana since 1995 where he was a member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, and the American Legion Post #49 both of Warsaw.
Denny loved to volunteer his time by delivering Mobile Meals, was active with CASA, the Whites Institute and Walnut Creek Youth. He definitely was an animal lover and always had a dog to love on, and one of his passions was reading books….LOTS OF BOOKS! He was a loving father, husband, and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 22 years, Connie Sue Strain (Warsaw, Indiana); daughter: Jennifer “Jenny” (Robert) Chirico (Indianapolis, Indiana); two step-daughters: Dawn (Mike) McKown (Nebraska); Shelley (David) Jones (Tennessee); two step-sons: Joe (Paula) Ford (Virginia); Greg (Emily) Miller (Arkansas); and eight grandchildren. He also leaves behind two sisters: Penny (Dan) Fierstos (North Manchester, Indiana); Prudence (Stan) Gamso (Columbus, Indiana). He was preceded in death by his parents.
Denny’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service that will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, 2033 S. 150 W., Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Greg Hiatt.
Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Private family graveside services will take place at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be designated to Kosciusko County Community Foundation, Inc., 102 East Market Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580 and designated in the memo line to “Kosciusko County Riley Kids Fund”; or to the American Lung Association of Indiana, 115 W. Washington Street, Suite 1180-South, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204 and would be appreciated by the family.
