Dolores Byers Obituary

Dolores Marlene (Jordan) Byers of Winona Lake, Indiana passed away at 3:51 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 85.

She was born on January 22, 1934 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania to Mary P. (Zeigler) Jordan and Bert L. Jordan.  On May 26, 1956 she was married to Pastor Glenn Carl Byers in Kittanning, Pennsylvania.  They shared 62 years of marriage before he passed away on August 11, 2018.

Dolores graduated from Kittanning High School in Kittanning, Pennsylvania.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana and after she married Glenn and he completed his MDiv training at Grace College and Seminary in the spring of 1960, she proudly served the Lord alongside him as a pastor’s wife.  He served his pastoral ministry in the Johnstown, Pennsylvania area, serving at the Singer Hill Grace Brethren Church until they returned to Warsaw in 1966.  She and Glenn spent their lifetime spreading the Word in many interim pastorates.  Dolores held various offices with the Women’s Missionary Fellowship, where she had also held the post of National Secretary, and was Program Chairman for the Midwest District.  She was a member of Lakeland Conservative Grace Brethren Church in Warsaw where she very much enjoyed fellowship with her church family.  Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a friend to many. She would most want to be remembered for her faith in her Savior Jesus Christ and will be dearly missed by her family and countless friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters:  Valerie Brown (Fort Wayne, Indiana); Noreen (husband Michael) Pollock (Fishers, Indiana); son:  Brent (wife Brenda) Byers (Warsaw, Indiana); and her daughter-in-law:  Marlene Byers (Pierceton, Indiana).  She also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren: Jordan, Logan, Victoria, Lauren, Holden; and four great grandchildren, Alekzander, Malakai, Keoni, and Elias; as well as her two brothers:  Wesley (Sally) Jordan (New Holland, Pennsylvania); Terry (Beverly) Jordan (Warsaw, Indiana).  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Glenn, sister, Marilyn Jordan, and her son, Craig Allen Byers who passed away October 25, 2018.
