Karen Lee Bowling of Winona Lake, Indiana passed away at 6:43 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at her residence at the age of 70.
She was born on November 3, 1947 in Troy, Ohio to Marvin Eugene Grove and Juanita Frances (Bradley) Grove. On June 14, 1969 she was married to James Edward Bowling.
Karen was a 1966 high school graduate from Troy, Ohio. She attended Grace College in Winona Lake graduating in 1970 with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught at Troy, Ohio public schools, Athens, Ohio, Miami, Florida, and Toccoa Falls, Georgia. In 1986 she came to Winona Lake and taught at Warsaw Christian School and Lakeland Christian Academy, retiring in 2010. She was a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for the past 32 years where she was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church. Karen was an active member of Blood Bought Bikers of the Christian Motorcyclists Association along with her husband Jim. She enjoyed reading, sewing and baking….most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years, James Edward Bowling (Winona Lake, Indiana); son: Eric (Kristine) Bowling (West Chicago, Illinois); two daughters: Serena Nelson (Tampa, Florida); and Susan (Nate) Wesssels (Fort Wayne, Indiana). Also surviving are six grandchildren: Kordell, Kole, Kelsey, Mazie, Freya, and Bjorn; sister: Pam Klatte (Troy, Ohio); and her sister-in-law: Jean Taylor (New Carlisle, Ohio). She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Kip Cone. Friends may visit prior to the service from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. A reception will take place following the service in the fellowship hall. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
