Mary Ann Cobb

Mary Ann Cobb of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, Indiana passed away at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City, Indiana at the age of 84.

She was born on February 23, 1935 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Margaret Helen (Clouser) Bernauer and Edward Paul Bernauer.  On June 26, 1954 she was married to Glenn Edward Cobb.  They shared 52 years of marriage together before  he passed away on March 19, 2007.

Mary Ann graduated from St. Mary’s Academy High School in 1953.  She attended Marion College (now Marion University) in Indianapolis for a year.  She worked for Construction Digest Magazine for nearly 40 years, beginning as a receptionist and ending as a vice president of a sister company, Allied Publications.  She enjoyed playing cards, attending swap shop and Wii Bowling at Grace Village Retirement Community.  She was secretary of Winona Literary Club, was a member of Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church in Warsaw, and later worshipped at Grace Village Chapel.  Mary Ann had a great sense of humor and was known for telling great jokes and stories.  She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.    

She will be lovingly remembered by three sons: Gordon E. (Donna) Cobb (Marion, Illinois); Gregory “Greg” J. (Sheila) Cobb (Warsaw, Indiana); and Timothy J. Cobb (Warsaw, Indiana).  She was blessed with nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.  Mary Ann is survived by her sister:  Marjorie Sue (Sam) Woolbright (Indianapolis, Indiana); and two brothers:  Joseph E. (Lillian) Bernauer (Tucson, Arizona); Donald P. (Benita) Bernauer (Indianapolis, Indiana).  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, Thomas David Bernauer.           

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Mary Ann’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service that will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by her son, Gordon.  Burial will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.   

Memorial donations in Mary Ann’s name may be directed to Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, Indiana  46590 and designated to go to their Art Department; or to Winona Literary Club, c/o 1404 Avalon Court, Winona Lake, Indiana  46590 and would be appreciated by the family.
