Renessa Bays Obituary

Renessa Bays of Akron, Indiana passed away at 4:55 a.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at her residence surrounded by family at the age of 78. 

She was born on October 4, 1941 in Mousie, Kentucky to Annie (Hunter) Wicker and Crit Wicker.  On January 25, 1963 she was married to Carl Raymond Bays.  They shared 51 years of marriage together before he passed away on February 2, 2015.   

Renessa had been a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for 37 years where she was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Kosciusko County in Claypool, Indiana.  She loved going to church and especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School. 

In 1964 Renessa moved from Kentucky to Indiana and in 1968 began working at Jomac Products in Warsaw.  She stayed there for quite a few years before working at A.M.P.I. (Associated Milk Producers Inc.) in Warsaw.  In 1985 she and her husband, Carl, moved back to Kentucky.  While there Renessa worked at several different jobs, including working in the kitchen at the hospital. In 1987 they returned to Indiana and she found work at Creative Designs for a couple of years before retiring to enjoy being a grandmother.  She dearly loved her grandchildren and her cats A.C. and Bandit.  Renessa’s greatest joy on earth was spending time with her family and will be forever loved and missed.   

She will be lovingly remembered b her two daughters:  Lisa (Chris) Wine (Aiken, South Carolina); Pam (Mike) Hamman (Akron, Indiana); two grandchildren:  Christopher Hamman (Katie McCord) (Plymouth, Minnesota); Daniel Hamman (Bloomington, Indiana).  Also surviving are her brother:  Rondal (Brenda) Wicker (Milford, Ohio); three sisters:  Gwenda Gibson (Jenkins, Kentucky); Arvenia Allen (Lackey, Kentucky); Verlie Lavone Bays (Russellville, Tennessee); and her sister-in-law:  Nancy Wicker (Loveland, Ohio).  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers:  Burbidge, Eugene and Kendell Wicker.            

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. 

Renessa’s life will be celebrated with a service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Glenn Hall.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Lakeview Cemetery of Silver Lake, Indiana. 

Memorial donations may be directed to Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice, P.O. Box 1196, Warsaw, Indiana  46580; or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Indiana Chapter, 50 E. 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana  46240 and would be appreciated by the family.
