Abel David, Jr. of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 12:26 a.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 71.

He was born on January 20, 1949 in Manhattan, New York to Mildred Augustine (Isom) David and Abel David, Sr.  He was married to Rebecca David and though they divorced, they always shared their love of their three children and maintained a friendship in later years.

Abel graduated from Teaneck High School in New Jersey and earned his Bachelor’s degree from New York University. He earned his two year Counseling Degree and Master’s of Divinity Degree  from Grace College and Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana in 1988.  He also served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged after his service.  Abel taught hundreds of children as a teacher retiring in 2012.   He had been a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for the past 30 years he attended the First Baptist Church of Warsaw and later Christ’s Covenant Church  Winona Lake, Indiana.  He honored his Lord Jesus Christ by passionately and actively serving through prison ministry.  Abel enjoyed volunteering when needed. He was a member of Men Following Christ and Narcotics Anonymous.  He had a heart for serving and helping others and for the past five years, he served as a manager for Serenity House in Warsaw.  Abel had many hobbies but his favorite was being part of his Ham Radio Club. He loved watching the news and especially enjoyed watching sports on TV.  He was a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, Indianapolis Colts and Notre Dame.  His wonderful smiling face and outgoing personality will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.   

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter:  Jessica David (Warsaw, Indiana); two sons:  Joshua David (Beverly Hills, California); Jeremy David (Warsaw, Indiana); and his former wife:  Rebecca David (Warsaw, Indiana).  Also surviving are his two sisters:  Sandra (Clif) Cox (Canton, Ohio); Gale (Edward) David Harris (Bristol, Indiana).  He was preceded in death by his parents.           

Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.  Abel’s life will be celebrated immediately following visitation at 3:00 p.m. and officiated by Pastor Larry McCall. 

Memorial donations may be directed to Christ’s Covenant Church, 2090 E. Pierceton Road, Winona Lake, Indiana  46590 or to the David Family, c/o Joshua David, 320 N. Oakhurst Drive, Suite 505, Beverly Hills, California  90210 to go towards his funeral expenses.
