Bernard “Bernie” Ray Shepherd of Silver Lake, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at his residence at the age of 63.
He was born on May 2, 1957 in Warsaw, Indiana to Arnold G. Shepherd and Oralee (Whitaker) Shepherd. Bernie was a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for 30 years where he attended Akron High School. For most of his life he worked as a truck driver in Shawnee, Kansas for McDonald’s Corporation. In 2008 he moved back home to Silver Lake and worked for 10 years for Auto Zone in Warsaw in commercial parts. Bernie loved animals especially his dog, was a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan and was a great conversationalist. He will forever be loved and remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle and friend with a big heart who will be dearly missed.
He will be lovingly remembered by his mother: Oralee Shepherd (Claypool, Indiana); brother: Darrell (Jennifer) Shepherd (Winona Lake, Indiana); sister: Sharon (Guy) Miller (Akron, Indiana); and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold, in 2013.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. Bernie’s life will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m. following visitation and officiated by Pastor Frank Whitaker. A graveside service will follow at Lakeview Cemetery of Silver Lake, Indiana.
