Beulah Yates Obituary

Beulah Marie (Owens) Yates of Claypool, Indiana passed away surrounded by family at 4:38 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at her residence at the age of 76.

She was born on September 19, 1944 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Mary (Adams) Owens and Jonnie Owens.  On April 16, 1960 she was married to George Willard Yates.  Together they raised three sons, one daughter, experienced the joy of becoming grandparents, great-grandparents, and they made many great memories throughout their 58 years of marriage before George passed away on December 21, 2018.

Beulah was a lifetime resident of Claypool, Indiana where she was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County in Claypool.  She was her husband’s constant and faithful companion, sharing the ups and downs of marriage and life.  Beulah was always there for her family and made sure to provide what was needed to make their home a loving place.  She worked for 15 years at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw where she was the housekeeping supervisor, as well as six years working at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw.  Beulah enjoyed tending to her flower garden, and always thought of others before herself.  She was known to her children as being a neat freak, but to Beulah she just enjoyed cleanliness and order.  First and foremost, she loved her Lord and Savior and she dearly loved her family and will forever be loved and remembered by all who were fortunate to have known her.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons:  Willard (Angel) Yates (Arizona); Vincent E. Yates (Claypool, Indiana); Greg (Kathy) Yates (Warsaw, Indiana); daughter:  Lorraine (Jerry) Brown (Columbia City, Indiana); three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are three brothers:  Curt Owens (Warsaw, Indiana); Orville Owens (Warsaw, Indiana); John Owens (Mentone, Indiana); two sisters:  Madie Campbell (Ohio); and Alice Brown (Burkett, Indiana).  She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Beulah’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service that will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at First Free Will Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, 58 W. 700 S. (700 South and County Farm Road) Claypool, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Terry Bradford.  There will be visitation prior to the service from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the church.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Graceland Cemetery in Claypool, Indiana.  Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be directed to First Free Will Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, P.O. Box 43, Claypool, Indiana  46510-0043 and would be appreciated by the family.
