Bonnie Jeanne Metzger

Bonnie Jeanne Metzger, formerly of Silver Lake and Winona Lake, Indiana, passed away at 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Timbercrest Senior Living in North Manchester, Indiana at the age of 90.

She was born on September 5, 1928 in Silver Lake, Indiana to Velma Grace (Hill) Shipley and Carl Wendell Shipley.  On January 3, 1951 she was married to Ernest Ray Metzger, who passed away May 12, 1986.

Bonnie was a 1946 graduate of Silver Lake High School.  She spent the majority of her life in Silver Lake, Indiana raising her family and was a proud homemaker and mother.  She moved to Warsaw in 1993 and attended Warsaw Wesleyan Church.  For many years she volunteered her time delivering mobile meals, and enjoyed volunteering at Grace Village Retirement Community so much that she was honored with the distinction of being their volunteer of the year.  Bonnie lived a full 90 years of life and her memory will be cherished by her children and grandchildren. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters:  Rebecca Schipper (Fort Wayne, Indiana); Evelyn Kay Meinert (Warsaw, Indiana); Tamra Ann (David) Lawrenz (North Manchester, Indiana); son:  Mike Metzger (Warsaw, Indiana); and step-daughter:  Marilyn (Norman) Roberts (Warsaw, Indiana).  Also surviving are her beloved thirteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her sister:  Patricia Yoder (Warsaw, Indiana).  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Jack, Bob and Richard Shipley, and her sister, Peggy Parker.           

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by David Lawrenz.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Lakeview Cemetery in Silver Lake, Indiana.
