Brendyn Ryan Stump of Akron, Indiana sadly passed away at 4:48 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the young age of 16. Brendyn was critically injured Saturday, May 15, 2021 when the vehicle he was driving, crashed into a utility pole along State Road 14 at the Packerton Road intersection in Kosciusko County. His beautiful soul is now at home with HIS Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ where he will forever be in the presence of Glory!
He was born on August 20, 2004 in Columbia City, Indiana to proud parents Kristie Daire Culp and Cy Daniel Stump. Since the day he was born he was always full of so much energy, hugs, smiles and love!
Brendyn LOVED GOD FIRST and he always loved his family. His #1 passion in life was basketball! He loved all sports…baseball, football and even ping pong. Basically, if Brendyn knew there was a ball involved, he was there playing. He could spend hours playing video games but he always made time to go kayaking with his Mom and spending time with family. He was a joy to be around, and he had plenty of cousins to spend time with. Everyone knew Brendyn had one particular fondness….who could forget his obsession with SHOES!
He was enjoying his sophomore year at Tippecanoe Valley High School in Akron, Indiana where he excelled at many sports. He was a varsity basketball and baseball player at school as well as a member of AAU Basketball out of Fort Wayne…Summit City Elite. Brendyn was also an All-Star World Series in baseball, and played travel baseball with the Sliders out of North Miami in 2018. Brendyn played with the South Bend Landsharks in 2019 and with the Harris Mavericks in 2020. He kept his parents and family busy with attending his games, which they loved to watch him play at what he loved doing.
Brendyn wasn’t just about all sports, he was also a very intelligent young man and made the top ten academically in his freshman class, with a current GPA of 3.9. He was an honor roll student and he had a keen mind for mathematics. He would excel at just about everything he would put his sharp mind to. Brendyn’s good attitude and likable personality both helped make him as popular at school as he was in the community. In his short 16 years on this Earth, he left a huge footprint on the hearts of those he loved. He had so many friends and family that loved and cared for Brendyn that he will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
He will be lovingly remembered by his mother: Kristie Culp (Akron, Indiana); father: Cy Stump (Pierceton, Indiana); and his sister: Adaira Malott (Akron, Indiana). Also surviving are his grandparents: Tom and Cathy Culp (Fulton, Indiana); Matt and Theresia Stickler (Rochester, Indiana); Pat and Joe Stump (Pierceton, Indiana); great-grandparents: Betty Culp Troyer (Macy, Indiana); Jeff and Julie Beattie (Rochester, Indiana); Donna J. Ross (Warsaw, Indiana); aunts: Brandy Culp (Rochester, Indiana); Elaine Smith (Pierceton, Indiana); Elizabeth Stump (Pierceton, Indiana); uncles: Ryan and Peggy Culp (Rochester, Indiana); and his cousins: James Duncan, Jr., Jarrett and Jordan Duncan, Sawyer Culp, Carter & Laynie Dugan, Skylar Smith, Ethan, Jaxsyn and Lillian Stump, Adreona and Noe Ybarra.
