Clayton Leo Shelburne of Warsaw, Indiana went home to be with the Lord at 7:39 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at his residence at the age of 76.

He was born on December 23, 1943 in San Francisco, California to Geneva (Strickland) Shelburne and Leo Shelburne.  On March 4, 1967 he was married to Lila Naomi (Wold) Shelburne. 

Clayton was a 1963 high school graduate from Duncan, Oklahoma and a 1965 graduate of Oklahoma State Tech with a degree in drafting.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy active duty from 1965-1967, and four years in the Navy Reserves.   After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Clayton also attended Multnomah Bible College in Portland, Oregon for two years.  He and his wife served as missionaries in Alaska for eight years.  He lived and worked as a self-employed building contractor in St. Charles, Missouri for 20 years.  He had a heart for serving the Lord and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. 

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Lila Naomi Shelburne (Warsaw, Indiana); son:  Shayne (Enkeleda) Shelburne (Albania); daughter:  Sharmion (Ryan) Bowell (Warsaw, Indiana); five grandchildren:  Cameron, Austin, Madeline, Aidan and Andy; and his sister-in-law:  Gloria Shelburne (Michigan).

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Marthina Kaylene Shelburne who passed away on April 13, 1997, and his brother Rex Shelburne in 2020.              

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 from 10:00 – 12:00 noon at First Christian Church, 115 Park Ridge Drive, Warsaw, Indiana.  Due to safety concerns from COVID-19, the visitation is limited to 25 people at a time. Please use good judgment in determining the length of your visit or if you should attend. There will be no congregating in the parking lot and physical distancing of six feet is mandatory.

Clayton’s life will be celebrated following visitation with a private family service on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at First Christian Church at and officiated by Pastor Matthew Rogers.  First Christian Church will live stream the service at 1:00 p.m. at the following link: https://www.facebook.com/FCCwarsaw

Private burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana with military rites conducted by members of the American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. both of Warsaw.  Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be directed to Media 7 Christian Radio, c/o 1984 Dausha Court, Warsaw, Indiana  46580.  Please make checks payable to: Media 7.  Donations will go towards a new Christian Radio Station in Macedonia to reach un-reached people.
