Cletus Howat Leverett, Jr.

Cletus Howat Leverett, Jr. of Warsaw, Indiana went home to be with the Lord at 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne at the age of 79.

He was born on August 7, 1943 in Alton, Illinois to Doris Marie (Golike) Leverett and Cletus Howat Leverett.  On July 8, 1972 he married the love of his life, Judy Mae Gosch.  They were blessed with two children and shared 50 years of marriage sharing everything in their lives before Cletus passed away.

He graduated from Kodiak High School in Kodiak, Alaska and afterwards graduated from Calvary Bible College.  He and Judy served in the Dominican Republic as missionaries from 1976-1979.  Cletus eventually made his home in Warsaw, Indiana and worked for over 20 years as an electropolisher for Medtronic in Warsaw, Indiana.  He was a member of the Warsaw Rifle and Pistol Club, was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying God’s beauty in nature, and loved a good day fishing and hunting whenever he could.  He enjoyed the fellowship of his church family where he attended at Leesburg Grace Brethren Church in Leesburg, Indiana.  He was a hardworking man who loved his wife, children and LOVED simply being a grandfather to his grandkids!  Cletus was a wonderful husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to many who will be dearly missed. 

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy Mae Leverett (Warsaw, Indiana); son, Brian (Delores) Leverett (Poulsbo, Washington); daughter, Jennifer (Ryan) Sparks (Wester Groves, Missouri); and his five favorite grandchildren, Abigail Treibs, Austen, Caleb, Josie and Eliza Sparks.  Also surviving are two brothers, Steve (Kathy) Leverett (Ankeny, Iowa); Rick (Julie) Leverett (Marion, Iowa); and his sister, Karen (Dave) Boersma (Horicon, Wisconsin).  He was preceded in death by his parents.           

Cletus' life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. and officiated by Pastor Tim Sprankle and Cletus' son-in-law, Ryan Sparks.  Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 10:00 – 1:00 p.m.  He will be laid to rest at a later date at Bunker Hill Cemetery, Bunker Hill, Illinois.
