Darell Shull Obituary

Darell Wayne Shull of Pierceton, Indiana passed away at 8:14 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 73.

He was born on November 22, 1948 in Mount Holly, New Jersey to Rosemary (Heeter) Shull and Everett Wayne Shull.  Darell was a 1966 graduate of South Whitley High School in South Whitley, Indiana.  On October 22, 1967, at the young age of 18, he was married to Linda Kay Ross.  They shared the next 54 years in marriage together celebrating many milestones, from becoming parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.

Darell was a proud Vietnam Veteran having enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967 and serving until his honorable discharge in 1972.  He was the recipient of four bronze service stars for his duty.  From 1982 until his retirement in 2008 he worked as a polisher for DePuy Orthodpaedics in Warsaw.  Darell was a reliable, hardworking man and enjoyed his many friends from his work family.  He was always patient and had an eye for detail which is why his hobby of woodworking suited him perfectly.

He definitely enjoyed the day he bought his Harley Davidson.  With his wife, Linda at his side, they traveled to 48 continuous states.  They created so many memories on their adventures and together they witnessed God’s beauty everywhere they went.  Darell enjoyed the fellowship of his church family at Warsaw Missionary Church where he was a longtime member.  More than anything, he dearly loved his family and especially his grandchildren.  Darell was always there for everyone when needed and he will be forever loved and missed by all.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife:  Linda Kay Shull (Pierceton, Indiana); two sons:  Craig (Patty) Shull (Warsaw, Indiana); Steve Shull (Warsaw, Indiana); and three daughters:  Theresa (Brad) Hall (Pierceton, Indiana); Kristin Shull (Pierceton, Indiana); Stephanie (Jose) Gutierrez (Mentone, Indiana).  Also surviving are his eleven grandchildren:  Justin, Kaylee, Jessica, Derek, Cassidy, Curtis, Hanna, Chloe, Dominick and Eva; and seven great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one granddaughter, Sadie in 2004.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.  Darell’s life will be celebrated with a service immediately following visitation at 1:00 p.m. and officiated by Pastor Ken Chupp.  Military funeral honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #49, V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw and active-duty members of the Army Honor Guard.  Burial will take place at a later date at Ulrey Memorial Cemetery in Silver Lake, Indiana.
