Obituary

David Cloice Munson of Claypool, Indiana went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 10:44 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, at the age of 77.  He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by many of his loved ones.

He was born on February 12, 1946, in Warsaw, Indiana to Dorothy Helen (Holderman) Munson and Harry Arthur Munson.  David was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County where he was a 1964 graduate of Claypool High School.  At the young age of 20, David married Margaret Elaine Walters on March 11, 1966.  They were blessed with 57 years of marriage and countless memories.

David farmed The Munson Home Place where he was raised, until his passing.  A farmer to the core, with patience, hope, discipline and a strong work ethic, he farmed his family’s land and lovingly cultivated the crops all season long.  He always strived to provide the best for his family, and with God’s grace he did.  While farming he also worked for a number of years at Endicott Church Furniture, Uniroyal and DePuy in Warsaw.  David was a hardworking man who found time to enjoy the simple things in life such as fishing and camping.  He dearly loved being with his family, especially time spent with his grandchildren.  His most important involvement was his church activities as a member of Calvary Tabernacle Church in Winona Lake.  David enjoyed spreading the Word, teaching Sunday School and of course sharing his talents on his guitar with the congregation.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to many. He would most want to be remembered for his faith in his Savior Jesus Christ and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Margaret Munson (Claypool, IN); two daughters, Cheryl (Jeffrey L.) Thompson (Claypool, IN); Amy (Eric) Pfeiffer (Claypool, IN); three grandchildren, Brittney (Ryan) Hessler (Bourbon, IN); Bryan (Morgan) Thompson (Rossville, IN); Breanna Thompson (Claypool, IN); and four great-grandchildren, Adaline, Easton, Hazel and Sawyer.  Also surviving is his brother, Max Munson (Warsaw, IN); sister, Arlene Ryan (Syracuse, IN); and two sisters-in-law, Elaine Munson and Phyllis Munson (both of Warsaw, IN).  He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved daughter, Rhonda Sue Munson in 1976, and two brothers, Doyle L. Munson in 2019, Loren Munson in 2020.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Calvary Tabernacle Church, 1300 Wooster Road, Winona Lake, Indiana.  David’s life will be celebrated with a service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Calvary Tabernacle Church and officiated by Pastor Brie Lycan.  A graveside service will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Warsaw, Indiana.  Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be directed to Calvary Tabernacle Church, 1300 Wooster Road, Winona Lake, IN  46582; or to Community Life Center, 825 N. Harrison Street, Warsaw, IN  46580.
