David "Dave" Walker, Jr. Obituary

Due to the current guidelines regarding public gatherings because of the COVID-19 virus and safety concerns, please use good judgment in determining the length of your visit or if you should attend.  Masks are not required but recommended for the visitation and service if crowded and six feet of social distancing cannot be maintained.  There will be no congregating in the parking lot.

David “Dave” Murl Walker, Jr. of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 8:47 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 58.  He could no longer fight the battle within his body and passed away from the injuries he sustained in an automobile accident that occurred on April 26, 2021 at State Road 13, north of CR 150 S outside of Pierceton.

He was born on February 21, 1963 in Muncie, Indiana to Nancy Ann (Merritt) Walker and David Murl Walker, Sr.  On May 2, 1990 he married the lovely Kelly Sue Blackford.  They shared 31 years of marriage together before he passed away.

Dave moved to Kosciusko County, Indiana in 1972 with his family and resided in the North Webster area for many years.  He worked at Warsaw Orthopedics, which later became Medtronic, where he was a machinist.  He later worked at North Webster Lakeshore Marina.  Dave had a number of jobs throughout his life but finally had to retire due to injuries he sustained in an automobile accident in 1987.  He never let his disability hold him back and he relished to be able to spend time outdoors, fishing, hunting and of course, playing his guitar.  He was always a very artistic fellow and was a familiar face to many because of his “Duck Dynasty Uncle Si beard”!  In his 58 years of life he shared with his loved ones, he filled many roles…son, brother, husband, father and finally, grandfather!  He lived a full life and will be dearly missed by all.

He will lovingly be remembered by his wife:  Kelly Sue Walker (Warsaw, Indiana); son:  Dustin (Jessica) France (Rochester, Indiana); three daughters:  Amber (Jason) West (Warsaw, Indiana); Danielle (wife Amber Stull) Walker (Columbia City, Indiana); and his daughter from a previous relationship, she is 33 now.  He also leaves behind his beloved seven grandchildren:  Aiden, Addison, Brielle, Keagan, Jackson, Skyler and Natalia; father:  David Murl Walker, Sr. (Pierceton, Indiana); sister:  Crystel (Andy) Hamilton (Pierceton, Indiana); two brothers:  Thomas (Christa) Walker (Bluffton, Indiana); and Timothy Walker (South Whitley, Indiana).  He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Walker and his beloved dog, Bailey, died at the accident scene.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.  Dave’s life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. following visitation and officiated by Ken Locke.   A graveside service will follow at Mock Cemetery in North Webster, Indiana.  The family are planning a balloon release at Dave’s residence after the cemetery committal service, please bring a balloon.

Memorial donations may be directed to American Diabetes Association, Chicago/Northern IL Office, 55 E. Monroe Street, Suite 3420, Chicago, IL  60603 and would be appreciated by the family.
