Donna Lee Brelsford

Donna Lee Brelsford, formerly of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Traditions at Brookside Assisted Living Facility in McCordsville, Indiana at the age of 92. 

She was born on December 9, 1928, in Yankton, South Dakota to Delilah May Slasor Dahlund and Harry Ditlev Slasor.  At the young age of 18, Donna was married on June 8, 1947, to the love of her life, George Charles Brelsford.  They were blessed with four children and married for 66 loving years before he passed away on December 18, 2013.

Donna was a wonderful mother and homemaker.  She and her husband were active members of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Warsaw for over 50 years. She also served many years as a member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League, bringing faith and spiritual support to women locally and beyond. She loved many creative outlets, including knitting and was a member of the Knitting Together Club. She and George enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels, golfing and their treasured friendships and travel with them. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son:  Steve (Colleen) Brelsford (Riverview, Florida); three daughters:  Barbara (Edwin) Yarbrough (Ashburn, Virginia); Lorna (Terry) Reine (Pickerington, Ohio); and Sandy (Gary) deCastro (Indianapolis, Indiana).  She also leaves behind her eight grandchildren: Kyla (Silas) Jenkins; Steven (Nicole) Yarbrough; Scott  (Rebecca) Yarbrough; BJ Yarbrough; Jennifer Reine; Jacob, Isabelle & Carly deCastro; two great-grandsons:  Liam and Ezra Jenkins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings.           

Her funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1720 E. Center Street, Warsaw, Indiana.  There will be two hours of visitation prior to the service at the church from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.  Donna will be laid to rest next to her husband, George with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
