Dorothy Wolfrum Obituary

We remain committed and prepared to safely care for the families we serve during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and want to stay within the government’s guidelines. Whenever possible, Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home will continue to enable families to participate in the rituals that are most important to them and allow them to be able to say their final good-bye to their loved one.  Should you feel the need to stay home, please do so....families will understand.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Dorothy Lee Cox Wolfrum of Warsaw, Indiana and formerly of Galion, Ohio passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Lake City Place of Warsaw at the age of 90.

Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born November 19,1929 in Carter County, Kentucky to Edna Alice (Elam) Cox and Owen Newton Cox.

She moved to Wyandot County, Ohio in the 6th grade and graduated from Harpster High School in 1948, having participated in school plays and as business manager for the school yearbook.  Earning the nickname Dotsie, she had many lifelong friends from those school days.

She worked at North Electric Company in Upper Sandusky after graduation where she met Jimmie Wolfrum, whom she married on February 28, 1953.    After living in Harpster and Galion Ohio during their early married life, they came to Kosciusko county in 1975 when Jimmie was transferred to Warsaw with the United Telephone Company.  They celebrated over 61 years together until his death in April 13, 2014.

Dorothy enjoyed so many hobbies over the years and excelled at most of them; including gardening (Iris’ were her passion), sewing, quilting, doll making, scrapbooking, crossword puzzles, reading and traveling with her husband.  She even became a member the Royal Horticultural Society at one time and traveled to England for the annual Chelsea Flower Show.  She was a lifelong learner who always had something to do; she was never bored, even writing a book about her early life to cultivate the same joy in her girls.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters:  Sybil (Bill) Burskey (Lucas, Ohio); and Cynthia (Bruce) Coppes (Warsaw, Indiana).  She also leaves behind four grandchildren:  Cynthia (Greg) Meyer (Lebanon, Ohio); Erin (Jason) Mudra (Lucas, Ohio); Emma Coppes (Milford, Indiana); Jeremy Coppes (Warsaw, Indiana); four great grandchildren, Claire and Charlotte Mudra, and Owen and Dirk Meyer; and many nieces and nephews.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband Jimmie, brother, Raymond Zane Cox, and sister, Bobbi Jo Johns.

A private family viewing will take place prior to her private burial at Little Sandusky Cemetery in Little Sandusky, Ohio.  Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Memorials may be directed to Heartland Hospice Services of Ft Wayne, 1315 Directors Row, Ste 210, Fort Wayne, Indiana  46808-1284 and would be appreciated by the family.
