He was born on March 14, 1938 in Rives Junction, Michigan  to Lilah Myrrh (Ward) Carmer and Charles Emery Carmer.  On September 10, 1960 at the age of 22 he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Kathryn “Kathy” Ann (Barker) Carmer in Brighton, Michigan.  Together they shared the joy of raising five children and loved every addition to their family.  They were blessed with 58 years of marriage before she passed away on October 13, 2018.

Dwayne graduated from Jackson High School in Jackson, Michigan in 1956.  He earned his electrical engineering degree in 1961 from the University of Michigan.  Dwayne was a very intelligent man and was a life-long learner always absorbing everything he could.  In 1960 he started working at ERIM of Michigan as a research engineer, retiring after 35 years of service in 1995.

Dwayne was always at his wife’s side, a partner in everything they did.  They moved to Kosciusko County, Indiana in 2007 and together they enjoyed hosting family and friends at Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, Indiana.  He and his family spent their summers at Piatt Lake where for 30 years they were members of Piatt Lake Bible Conference, Eckerman, Michigan.  He was a past member of the Gideons, and enjoyed fellowship with his church family at Pleasant View Bible Church in Warsaw.  Dwayne was always a faithful servant of the Lord through the local churches he enjoyed attending.  He was a devoted husband, a dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and many friends.

He will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters:  Cindy (Rev. Chuck) McCallum (Marion, Indiana); Lynnette (Jim) Engle (Warsaw, Indiana); Angelyn (Rev. Paul) VanCise (Bryant, Indiana); and two sons:  Kent (Sarah) Carmer (Indianapolis, Indiana); Rev.
