Ed Strang Obituary

Ed Strang of Warsaw, Indiana went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 21, 2024.  He passed away at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 72.

He was born on April 3, 1951, in Warsaw, Indiana to Mimi (Heckaman) and Dale Strang.  Ed was a 1969 graduate of Triton High School.  He had worked at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw as the maintenance director, retiring in 2016.  Ed married Jani Snively on September 7, 1992, and shared their lives and blended their families.  They were blessed with 31 years of marriage before Ed passed away.

A man of few words, he was a strong and silent presence who dearly loved his family and friends.  More than anything he LOVED being PaPa and had plenty of love for all of his children and grandchildren.  Ed never spoke ill of anyone and was simply a kind-hearted man.  He was very patriotic, and had the utmost respect for any service organization, from the police, EMS, to all of our servicemen in the military.  The National Anthem would always bring a tear to his eyes.  Ed enjoyed all of God’s creations, he especially loved being outdoors watching the birds.  He made sure to always have his many bird feeders and houses full of seed for them to enjoy.  Ed was always content spending many quiet hours working on his delicate model ships, paying close attention to all of the details.  He also enjoyed anything to do with trains.  He loved it when traffic crossing the tracks stopped as the train passed through town.  He would sit and watch the train cars go by and simply enjoy the minutes waiting for the last car to go past him.  Ed truly loved the simple things in life, and never wanted the light to shine on him.  He will forever be missed by those who loved him.

He leaves behind his wife, Jani Strang (Warsaw, IN); seven children, Lisa (Matt) Evans (North Manchester, IN); Kelly Strang (Warsaw, IN); Amanda (Josh) Bradley (NJ);   Tanya Jackson (Warsaw, IN); Gabe (Jamie) Koser (Warsaw, IN); Holli Burkart (Ft. Wayne, IN); and Annie (Scott) Cline (Peachtree City, GA).  Also surviving are eighteen grandchildren, Ashely, Brittany, Haley, Hunter, Layla, Izzie, Sadie, Reese, Elise, Finola, Sarie, Ellie, Evie, Nashville, Khesed, Paxton, Journey and Jovie; two sisters, Sandra Butte (Edwardsburg, MI); Mary Ann (Claude) Robinson (Claypool, IN); and one brother, Gene Nelson (AK).  He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Al Butte.

Ed’s life will be celebrated privately by his family.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.  Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be directed to Jani Strang, 724 Bartol Drive - Apt. 1, Warsaw, IN  46580 to go towards expenses.
