Elbert Louis Morts of Warsaw, Indiana, affectionately known by all as simply Louie, passed away at 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw at the age of 86.
He was born on May 12, 1936 in Kosciusko County, Indiana to Elberta (Gearhart) Morts and Vern Maxwell Morts. On May 21, 1966 he married the love of his life, Charlotte Main. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage together before he passed away.
Louie enlisted in the U.S. Army and was inducted April 7, 1959 and proudly served until his honorable discharge on April 4, 1961. When he returned home he was a loyal hardworking employee of Kimble Glass in Warsaw for 36 years. He always enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life and enjoying God’s beauty outdoors. After retirement he had more time to do the many things he enjoyed, especially tinkering in his shop. Louie was very good with his hands and detail work which he put towards his talents on his wood carving projects.
He attended Walnut Creek United Methodist Church in Warsaw along with his wife. Louie was a loving husband, and a great uncle. He was a loving and kind man with a welcoming smile on his face that will be dearly missed by his family.
He leaves behind his wife, Charlotte Morts (Warsaw, Indiana), nieces and nephews, Claudia (Larry) Adams (Indianapolis, Indiana), Craig (Jessica) Adams (Indianapolis, Indiana), Drew Adams (Indianapolis, Indiana), sister-in-law: Sue Corson (Indianapolis, Indiana), and his many fishing buddies. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gilbert Morts, one grandson and his brother.
Louie's life will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Stacy Downing. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw, Indiana with military rites conducted by members of the American Legion Post #49 and active duty members of the Army Honor Guard. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 10:00 – 12:00 noon.
