Elige Thompson , Sr.

Elige Thompson, Sr. of Warsaw, Indiana went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 5:36 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 73.   

He was born on December 19, 1946 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Ethel (Hibbins) Thompson and Phil Thompson.  He was married to Geraldine (Burkett) Thompson and she passed away on January 5, 1993.  Elige re-married on July 5, 1997 to Roberta (Hunter) Thompson, who survives.

Elige worked at R&S Body shop in Allen, Kentucky before moving to Indiana from Prestonsburg, Kentucky.  He had been a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for the past 32 years.  Elige had worked for many years at Maple Leaf Farms in Milford, Indiana and later at Contech in Pierceton, Indiana before retiring.  He loved the simple things in life, sitting in his recliner watching T.V., eating a good meal, he loved to hunt, and do woodworking projects.  One of his favorite caps said it all…Born to Hunt but Forced to Work!  He especially loved his dogs, Molly and Buster, those dogs were very much loved and could always count on Elige petting them and giving them a treat and a hug.  He loved going to church with his wife, Roberta at God’s Highway to Heaven Church in Warsaw, Indiana.  He always had a good time when they would attend the All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast’s at the church on various Saturday’s and attending different revivals over the years.  He will be dearly missed by his friends, family and his church family. 

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 22 years, Roberta Thompson (Warsaw, Indiana); and his daughter:  Robin Thompson (Bolivar, Missouri).  He also leaves behind a special sister and brother-in-law:  Mae (Donnie) Jarrell (Prestonsburg, Kentucky); two sisters:  Phyllis (Kevin) Sherman; Edith Marsillett (both of Prestonsburg, Kentucky); two brothers:  Bill Monroe Thompson and Darvin (Connie) Thompson (both of Prestonsburg, Kentucky); and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son Elige “J.R.” Thompson, Jr. who died June 25, 2008 and his daughter, Michell Evans, who passed away on December 22, 2017.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.  Elige’s life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. following visitation at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Bob and Tanya Brown. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana.
