Ellsworth N. Everest of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 3:55 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 84.

He was born on January 25, 1937 in New Paris, Indiana to Maxine (Long) Everest and Kenneth R. Everest.  On September 24, 1961 he was married in Bourbon, Indiana to Shirley Ann Border.  They raised three children, enjoyed becoming grandparents, and shared 59 years of marriage together before he passed away.

Ellsworth was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana where he was a graduate of Leesburg High School.  He was the owner and operator of Everest Excavating in Warsaw for over 50 years.  Ellsworth was always a hard worker and LOVED to dig everyday!  He was a longtime member of Leesburg United Methodist Church in Leesburg, Indiana and he enjoyed the fellowship of his church family.

He dearly loved his community and was a past member and president of Atwood Lions Club, a member of Lake City Wings, Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and was the Director of Civil Defense for Kosciusko County for 17 years.  One of his favorite pastimes was that he enjoyed hauling the Leesburg Veterans in the Memorial Day Parade every year.  He loved to travel and in his lifetime was able to take five cruises and many motorcycle trips and witnessed God’s beauty wherever he happened to be.  He was a proud cancer survivor, loved his dogs, and enjoyed sitting around the local round tables and solving all of the world’s problems while taking nourishment!  He will forever be loved as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be dearly missed.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife:  Shirley Ann Everest (Warsaw, Indiana); two sons:  Kevin (Christina) Everest (Indianapolis, Indiana); Keith (Lori) Everest (Warsaw, Indiana); daughter:  Kimberly (Jonathon Auger) Everest (Sierra Vista, Arizona); four grandchildren:  Rachel Everest, Lauren (Nathaniel) Falk, Kyle Johnson, Eva Everest; and two great-grandchildren:  Robert and Andie Falk.  Also surviving are three sisters:  Marcele Everest (Pendleton, Indiana); Helen (Robert) Smoker (Leesburg, Indiana); and Carolyn Burk (Englewood, Florida).  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.  Ellsworth’s life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Rob Seewald.  He will be laid to rest at Leesburg Cemetery in Leesburg, Indiana.
