Eric Baker Obituary

Due to the current guidelines regarding public gatherings because of the COVID-19 virus and safety concerns, please use good judgment in determining the length of your visit or if you should attend.  If six feet of social distancing is not maintained then masks are required for the visitation and service.  There will be no congregating in the parking lot.

Eric Lewis Baker passed away unexpectedly at 3:52 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at his residence at the age of 40.

He was born on December 6, 1979 in Warsaw, Indiana to Linda Sue (Whitaker) Crooks and Terry Lee Baker.  He married Mesta (Bussard) Baker and they later divorced.  But they always shared the love of their two sons from their marriage.

Eric was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana where he was a 1998 graduate of Warsaw Community High School.  In 1997 before he graduated from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served for three years as a heavy duty mechanic.  He was honorably discharged in 2005 from the Army Reserves.  Eric worked at R & G Automotive in Warsaw, as well as Othy Orthopedics and Medtronic. He operated his own mechanic shop for three years in Silver Lake and was a great handyman with electronics.  He had a great personality and was a friend to all.  Even as a young kid, Eric had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, and a winning smile which stayed with him throughout his adulthood.  He truly loved his two sons, Thane and Dorian…so much so that he had their names tattooed on each arm so that they were always with him.  He loved and was loved by his entire family and will be forever missed.

He leaves behind two sons:  Thane Lewis Baker and Dorian Robert Baker (both of Warsaw, Indiana); mother:  Linda (Mark) Crooks (Warsaw, Indiana); father:  Terry (Gloria) Baker (Silver Lake, Indiana); two sisters:  Kimberly (Phil) Dunn (Meridian, Idaho); Terra (Jerry) Lumba (Fort Wayne, Indiana); former wife:  Mesta Baker (Warsaw, Indiana); and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his Uncle Delmor Shepherd.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.  Eric’s life will be celebrated with a service immediately following visitation at 4:00 p.m. Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Seth Mercer and Dan Kerr.  Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw following the service.  Burial will take place at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery in Silver Lake, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be directed to the New Life Christian Church and World Outreach, 744 S. 325 E., Warsaw, Indiana  46582 to go towards the Celebrate Recovery program.  Celebrate Recovery is a safe place to address destructive or compulsive behaviors, unhealthy relationships, addictions (drugs, alcohol, food, pornography), anger, shame, codependency (addiction to people and control), past abuse and so much more.
