Fred J. Helton, age 70, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 5:20 pm at the Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Fred was born on October 17, 1945 at Prestonsburg, Kentucky. He was the son of Johnnie and Myrtle (Hale) Helton. He was married to Lorena Johnson on October 23, 1964 in Silver Lake, Indiana and survives in Warsaw.
He was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 54 years and had been employed at Dalton Foundry in Warsaw for 46 years as a Supervisor. Fred attended the First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, he was a member of the Kosciusko Skeet Club and the Quarter Horse Association. Fred had a real passion for NASCAR and the Kentucky Wildcats.
Besides his wife Lourena, Fred will be lovingly remembered by his family, which includes two sons: James (wife Shelley) Helton (Warsaw, Indiana) and Steven L. (companion Alicia) Helton (Syracuse, Indiana). Also surviving are four grandchildren: Joselyn and Matthew Helton, Spencer and Austin Davidson; as well as his brother: Don (wife Janet) Helton (Silver Lake, Indiana); and two sisters: Emma Slone (Silver Lake, Indiana), and Elsie Dotson (Prestonsburg, Kentucky). He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 1:00 -5:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, Pastor Terry Bradford will officiate. Interment will be made at Lake View Cemetery in Silver Lake, Indiana.
