Georgeanna B. Shellenbarger

Georgeanna B. Shellenbarger of Grace Village Retirement Community of Winona Lake, Indiana passed away at 6:10 a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Grace Village Health Care at the wonderful age of 100.  She was a lifetime resident of Huntington, Indiana before moving to Winona Lake, in 2016. 

She was born on June 7, 1921 in Union Township, Huntington County, Indiana to Mary Lavone (Miller) Tharp and Walter S. Tharp.  On June 30, 1941 she was married to Hubert Olin Shellenbarger.  They raised three children, loved becoming grandparents and great-grandparents throughout their 63 years they were blessed to share together before he passed away on August 24, 2004. 

Georgeanna was a graduate of Union Township High School in Huntington, Indiana.  She worked for many years for Litton Industries in Huntington, Indiana where she lived most of her life.  She was active in her church at Congregational Christian United Church of Christ in Huntington, and of course the PTA when she was younger.  She enjoyed quilting, playing cards and bingo.  Georgeanna lived a full life throughout her 100 years, she saw many innovations in her lifetime but more than anything experiencing the love of her family was the most important.  She will be dearly missed and forever loved. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons:  Jerry E. (Daphne) Shellenbarger (San Jose, California); Larry L. (Marilyn) Shellenbarger (Winona Lake, Indiana); daughter:  Mary D. (Paul) Stork (Winona Lake, Indiana); ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, William J. Tharp, and two sisters, Lodonna M. Bartlett and Lavillia R. Hazelett.            

Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana with her service to follow at 11:00 a.m. and officiated by officiated by Chaplain Bryan Benjamin.  A private family graveside service will follow at Star of Hope Cemetery in Huntington, Indiana.
