Harvey James Miller

Harvey James Miller of Warsaw, Indiana passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Mason Health Care Center in Warsaw at the age of 84.  Harvey was the beloved and familiar voice of WRSW radio in Warsaw for many years. 

He was born on December 26, 1938, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Olive Rose (Hauck) Miller and Rhynard D. Miller.  After graduating high school Harvey married his love, Juanita E. Crapson, on November 22, 1957.  They relocated to Warsaw, Indiana and called it home.  They were longtime members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warsaw and enjoyed the fellowship of their church family and he enjoyed his friends at Warsaw Rotary Club and the Knights of Columbus.  Harvey and Juanita were blessed with 58 years of marriage together before she passed away on February 11, 2016.  

Harvey was a loving husband to Juanita Miller and caring father to three sons, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Miller (North Las Vegas, NV); Steven Miller (Warsaw, IN); Gerald (Amy) Miller (Bedford, IN); and his daughter, Teresa (Richard) Miller-Patterson (Gravette, AR).  He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Sydney Miller (North Las Vegas, NV); Colin Miller (Warsaw, IN); Spencer Miller (Ft. Wayne, IN); Maximilian Miller (Bedford, IN); Haley (Garrett) McLaughlin (Bedford, IN); Nicole Miller (Bedford, IN); and one great-grandchild, Emilia McLaughlin (Bedford, IN).  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and his brother, Kenneth Miller.

Harvey worked for WRSW in Warsaw and became General Manager until 2000.  While at WRSW Harvey was at his best operating live remotes, managing advertising sales, and interacting with his favorite folks.  Harvey had never met a stranger as he loved meeting with new folks and familiar folks alike.  Radio was Harvey’s life.  Whether you were talking to him over the air or over the phone you always felt special with that one-of-a-kind soothing voice.  Harvey was an Icon in Warsaw and will be missed dearly by his loving family and friends.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana, as well as an hour of visitation prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.  Harvey’s life will be celebrated with a service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Father David Langford.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.
