Obituary

Due to the current guidelines regarding public gatherings because of the COVID-19 virus and safety concerns, please use good judgment in determining the length of your visit or if you should attend.  If six feet of social distancing is not maintained then masks are required for the visitation and service . There will be no congregating in the parking lot.

Janet Hope Hoffer of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw at the age of 82.

She was born on December 9, 1937 in Niles, Michigan to Kathryn Jane (McCormick) Guy Myers and James Maxwell Guy.  Janet was married on June 26, 1955 to Douglas Allen Hoffer.  They divorced in 1974 but still had a shared love for their children. 

Janet was a 1955 graduate of Atwood High School in Atwood, Indiana.  She was a familiar smiling face for 10 years working and assisting people as a bank teller for Teachers Credit Union in Warsaw.  Janet loved her church family and enjoyed their fellowship at Winona Lake Free Methodist Church in Winona Lake, Indiana.  She loved crocheting, attending musicals at the Wagon Wheel Playhouse, shopping and taking care of children.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son: Steven (Mary) Hoffer (Roseau, MN) and their children Paul (Karina), Maribeth (Jesse), Kari, Eric; daughter:  Kathryn Horrall (Chesapeake, VA) and her children Lauren (DJ), Jenna, Jordan.  She also leaves behind her half-brother:  James (Renee) Guy (Warsaw, IN); and half-sister:  Nancy (Sam) Collins (Warsaw, IN).  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Larry Maxwell Guy and her half-sister Leah Guy.           

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care.  Janet’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by her son, Pastor Steven Hoffer.  A private family graveside service will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana.
