Jean Kittrell Obituary

In Loving Memory of LeNelma Jean Kittrell

LeNelma Jean Kittrell, age 85, a lifelong resident of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away on December 13, 2023. Born on June 19, 1938, to Wilbur Alton and Mary Elizabeth Julian, Jean lived a life rich in love, family, and commitment.

LeNelma, known as Jean, Jeannie, and Granny leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a close-knit family who will forever hold her in their hearts. She was a devoted mother to Teresa (Ron) McConahie, Douglas (Terri) Kittrell, Mike (Pam Kinser) Kittrell, Mary (Wes) Gearheart, Patty Kittrell, Kimberly (Jay) Secrist, and Kelly (Larry) Blackwell. Her love extended to her grandchildren, Michael Kittrell, Andrew Kittrell, Kristin (Tyler) Parker, and Haley Kittrell, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. She was a beloved sister to Richard (Liz) Julian and Judy Shumaker.

Jean worked at Dalton Foundry for 44 years and made many friends in that time. After retiring she spent time with her kids, grandkids, and granddogs. Jean was “Granny” to many including the members of her grandson Michael’s college bowling team. Where “her” boys went she followed; brought snacks and provided sage “Granny” advice to the team members. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzle books, sitting outside, either in the backyard or on the front porch, enjoying the sunshine, and watching and feeding the squirrels and hummingbirds

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Alton and Mary Elizabeth (Blue) Julian, her brother Larry Julian, sister Cherel Ann Julian and great grandson Bentlee Alexander Scott. While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived, the love she shared, and the memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.

Friends and family may visit from 3 - 6 pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Redpath - Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Jean’s life will be celebrated with a service at 10 am on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Redpath–Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Lane Lingofelter. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.

Memorial donations may be made in Jean’s memory to Kosciusko County Riley Kids Fund (c/o Kosciusko County Community Foundation 102 E Market Street, Warsaw, IN 46580). Riley’s had a special place in Jean’s heart since she spent 15 months there after suffering third degree burns in an accident when she was eight years old, or to One Dog At A Time Pet Rescue (PO Box 76, Warsaw, IN 46580) in memory of her favorite granddog Ralphie who joined the family as a rescue.

May she rest in peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were touched by her warmth and kindness.
