Joellen Hauth Obituary

Joellen Hauth of Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, Indiana passed away at 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Grace Village Health Care at the age of 90.

She was the only daughter born to Bernice Matilda (Holem) Mathia and Anthony John Mathia on May 4, 1931 in Warsaw, Indiana.  At the young age of 20, she married the love of her life, Roy Francis Hauth, Jr. on August 12, 1951.  They raised two sons, traveled together, and shared 69 years of marriage before he passed away on November 30, 2020.

Joellen was a lifetime resident of Warsaw, Indiana where she was a 1949 graduate of Warsaw High School, afterwards she attended Manchester College.  She was a very intelligent lady and worked for many years at Lake City Bank and at the end of her career she retired as the Assistant Controller.  She and her husband Roy were longtime members of First United Methodist Church of Warsaw.  Joellen was an avid sports fan and everyone knew she loved the Chicago Cubs.  She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as enjoying a good meal and visiting with friends.  Joellen loved to cruise around with Roy in his beloved 1954 Jaguar XK 120 and she was always by his side attending various weekend car shows throughout their lives. She was a very talented painter and spent hours painting the homemade crafts that Roy made.  Joellen was always fascinated about the lives of the area Amish and was very passionate about painting them.  For many years the Hauth’s wintered at Fort Myers, Florida and she loved their many trips to Traverse City, Michigan.  Joellen was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.  She lived a full and loved life and will be forever missed.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons:  Michael Anthony (Judy) Hauth (Mexico); Timothy Joel (Shirlee) Hauth (Warsaw, Indiana); two step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is her cousin and good friend:  Jean Ann Dennie (Bourbon, Indiana).  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Roy passed away first in November 2020 and was cremated.  Joellen will finally get her wish and she will be laid to rest back together with her husband, Roy with a joint private graveside service on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Chaplain Bryan Benjamin.  Arrangements were entrusted with Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
