Leigh Calloway

Leighton “Leigh” Blane Calloway of Leesburg, Indiana passed away unexpectedly at 11:40 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Parkview Warsaw at the age of 56. 

He was born on September 11, 1963 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Susan Marian (Campbell) Calloway and Carl Roman Calloway.  On June 14, 2014 he was married to Lisa Dawn (Brooks) Calloway, who survives.

Leigh has lived in Kosciusko County, Indiana for the past 48 years where he was a 1982 graduate of Warsaw High School.  When he wasn’t working, he was an avid reader.  He attended the Locomotive Engineer School in Cincinnati, Ohio and Atlanta, Georgia graduating in 2004.  He worked for CSX Railroad out of the Garret, Indiana depot.  He was a railroad engineer for 15 years, but he enjoyed cooking even more.  He designed the Bus Fare Food Truck which he was excited to launch in the spring of 2020.  “I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one, I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles, when life is done.  I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.  I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun.  Of happy memories that I leave when my life is done.”  Leigh will be missed and forever loved.    

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of five plus years:  Lisa Dawn Calloway (Churubusco, Indiana); two step-sons:  Joshua Brooks (Churubusco, Indiana); Ben (Kassie) Smyser (Oregon); two step-daughters:  Emily (Brandon) Beebe (Columbia City, Indiana); and Elizabeth Brooks (Ft. Wayne, Indiana).  He also leaves behind his mother: Susan Calloway (Ft. Wayne, Indiana); two brothers:  Carl M. (Jule) Calloway; and Paul (Karen) Calloway (both of Ft. Wayne, Indiana); mother-in-law:  Margie Brooks; sister-in-law:  Kim Wilson; brother-in-law: Richard Brooks; and laughed at and loved by many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Carl R. Calloway in 1999.           

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. 

A celebration of life for Leigh will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Jack Worth.  Burial will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana.
