Lois Woomer Obituary

Lois Ann Woomer of Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, Indiana passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the age of 88.

She was born on November 4, 1933 in East Freedom, Pennsylvania to Dorothy (Quarry) Shaw and Dean F. Shaw.  On April 5, 1952 she married Chester Leroy Woomer.  They were blessed with 60 years of marriage together and during that time raised their children, experienced the joy of becoming grandparents and simply shared their lives before he passed away on January 11, 2013.

Lois lived and worked in Pennsylvania and worked for many years in the insurance department at a hospital.  She enjoyed attending church and was a member of Grace Fellowship Leamersville Church in Pennsylvania.  She enjoyed bible study and prayer and had many interests that kept her busy.  She loved reading, sewing, attending plays and movies with family and friends.  Lois was known for being a wonderful cook and every Christmas it was a treat to receive cookies she baked with love.  More than anything she relished her role as a grandmother, she LOVED her grandchildren and cared deeply for her family.  Lois was a special aunt, who always cared about what was happening in the lives of her nieces and nephews.  She very much enjoyed keeping in touch with her family.  Lois will forever be loved and remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She leaves behind her son:  Leroy (Lisa) Woomer (Maryland), daughter, Carol (Craig) Allebach (Warsaw, Indiana), three grandchildren, C.J. Allebach (Leesburg, Indiana), Cara Allebach (Winona Lake, Indiana), Matthew Woomer (Warsaw, Indiana), and five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, James Shaw.

Lois’ life will be celebrated by her family with a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Grace Fellowship Leamersville Church, 14 Brethren Lane, Duncansville, Pennsylvania.  She will be laid to rest at Mennonite Cemetery in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.  Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be directed to Grace Fellowship Leamersville Church, 14 Brethren Lane, Duncansville, PA 16635 to go towards their building fund.
