Lowell Richard Denney of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 5:18 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw at the age of 84.
He was born on May 18, 1935 in Warsaw, Indiana to Sally (Konkle) Trushel and Cecil Denney. On December 18, 1954 he was married in Raleigh, North Carolina to Alice Delores Denney. They shared 54 years of marriage before she passed away on August 3, 2009.
Lowell enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1956. He attended Warsaw Community Church and worked for Dalton Foundry in Warsaw for 20 years in the core room and as a supervisor. He was a hard worker and kept busy, he was the head of maintenance for the Justice Building in Warsaw, worked at Kosciusko Community Hospital in maintenance, was a groundskeeper at Rozella Ford Golf Course in Warsaw, head of maintenance for Monteith Tire in Warsaw. He loved sports of all kinds, softball, basketball, bowling, golfing, and was a HUGE Cub’s fan. Lowell enjoyed college sports, especially Notre Dame and Duke. He lived for his family and he would most want to be remembered for being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to many.
He will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters: Susan (Rusty) Biggs); Teresa Zorkan (both of Warsaw, Indiana); and Sondra (Ronald) Hobbs (Etna Green, Indiana). Also surviving are his beloved seven grandchildren: Angie (Nate) Collins (Warsaw, Indiana); Chris (Kelsey) Freedle (Warsaw, Indiana); Dawn (Dan) Foreman (Warsaw, Indiana); Jeremy Hall (Warsaw, Indiana); Sabrina Long (Elkhart, Indiana); Keith (Erica) Jefferson (Argos, Indiana); Shawna (Justin) Hensley (Argos, Indiana); thirteen great-grandchildren: Shawn, Makylia, Asher, Beatrice, Theeya, Blake, Braxton, Eliana, Lydia, Cullen, Kenley, Keith Jr., Kaleb; and his sister: Marilyn (Chuck) Shilling (Peru, Indiana). He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Norm, George and Al Denney, and two sisters, Doris Corral and Barb Deniston.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Jeff Pfeifer. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw with full military rites conducted by active duty members of the Army Honor Guard and the American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. #1126.
