Madison Shipley Obituary

Due to the current guidelines regarding public gatherings because of the COVID-19 virus and safety concerns, please use good judgment in determining the length of your visit or if you should attend.  If six feet of social distancing is not maintained then masks are required for the visitation and service.  There will be no congregating in the parking lot.

Madison Renee Shipley of Nashville, Tennessee and formerly of Winona Lake, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 6, 2020 in a boating accident in Tennessee at the age of 23.

She was born on September 5, 1997 in Warsaw, Indiana and was the beloved daughter of Melanie Renee (Book) Shipley and Steven Todd Shipley.

Madison was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana where she attended Warsaw Community Church.  She loved to dance and her parents enrolled her in dance class when she was three years old.  For 16 years Madison dedicated hours of energy and joy at Debra Collier’s School of Dance in Warsaw, Indiana.  She basically grew up in that studio and was a member of their Class Act Dance Troupe.  She was never shy about performing in front of others and sharing her gift.  Everyone has their own style, but Madison definitely had her own special uniqueness that will always be remembered.

She was a 2016 graduate of Warsaw High School and continued her studies at Ball State University where she graduated with honors in 2020 from Ball State School of Nursing.  One of her life ambitions was to eventually pursue a career in pediatric nursing.  She loved the years she spent at Ball State, every experience and the many friends she made especially as a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority.  Madison was excited to start her nursing job and finally putting her helping nature to use starting in October at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville.

In the short 23 years of Madison’s life she lived every second of it and left a lasting impression on the hearts of everyone she met and will be forever loved by her family and many friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Steven and Melanie Shipley; two brothers:  Stone and Isaac Shipley; and her sister: Brenna Shipley (all of Winona Lake, Indiana).  She also leaves behind her maternal grandmother:  Judith Book (Hobart, Indiana); paternal grandfather:  Lynn Shipley and his wife Geri Stookey-Shipley (Leesburg, Indiana); her Uncle Scott (Kelly) Shipley (Syracuse, Indiana); and two Aunts:  Shari (Bob) Marcuccilli (Warsaw, Indiana); and Kim (Al) Kassman (St. John, Indiana).  She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Russell Book and her grandmother, Shyrle Shipley.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.  Madison’s life will be celebrated with a service at 4:00 p.m. following visitation and will be officiated by Pastor Denny Wilson of Warsaw Community Church.
