Margaret Marshall Obituary

Margaret Louise Marshall of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, Indiana passed away at 7:37 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2022 at Grace Village Health Care at the age of 101.

She was born on May 25, 1921 in Highland, Ohio to Fanny Jane (Stowe) Moore and Merritt Elmer Moore.  She earned her Bachelor’s degree in education in 1943 from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and attended one year at Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana.  Margaret taught for many years as a substitute school teacher in Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio.  She even worked at a Christian Book Store in Peru, Indiana.

On July 7, 1949 she was married in Dayton, Ohio to Reverend James Boal Marshall.  They were blessed with 60 years of marriage together before he passed away on May 7, 2010.  Margaret relished her new role as a homemaker and as a Pastor’s wife, and she and her husband served their Lord as missionaries for the Grace Brethren Church and Encompass in Argentina from 1950-1968.  Margaret was a long-time member of Leesburg Grace Brethren Church in Leesburg, Indiana.  She and her husband had resided in Milford, Indiana since 1993, and retired to Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, Indiana in 2001.  She enjoyed making new friends and keeping active at Grace Village, so much so that she received the Service Volunteer of the Year award from Grace.  Margaret lived a very full life in her 101 years on this Earth, and more than anything she loved her family.  She raised four wonderful sons who enriched her life even more with grandchildren.  Margaret was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She would most want to be remembered for her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She leaves behind three sons:  Michael (Lani) Marshall (Milford, Indiana), David (Michelle) Marshall (Winona Lake, Indiana), and J. Andrew (Georgia) Marshall (Noblesville, Indiana).  Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and brother, Harold Moore (Clinton County, Ohio).  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rev. James B. Marshall, and her son, Peter Marshall, three sisters and one brother.

Margaret’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at The Chapel of Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Andrew Marshall.  Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 10:00 – 12:00 noon.  Burial will take place at a later date at Highland Cemetery in Highland, Ohio.  Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be directed to Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, Indiana  46590.
