She was born on June 29, 1941 in Rochester, Indiana to Mary Louise (Swihart) Metzger and Ernest Ray Metzger. On June 21, 1959 right before her 18th birthday, she was married to Norman Lee Roberts. Together they raised two sons, over the years they celebrated each grandchild’s arrival, and shared 61 years of marriage together before she passed away.
Marilyn was a 1959 graduate of Silver Lake High School in Silver Lake, Indiana. She worked throughout her life and for many years she owned and operated Marilyn’s Daycare. She was also a machinist for 28 years at Osborn Manufacturing Corporation in Warsaw before retiring. She always enjoyed the outdoors and exercising. She loved her church family and going to services as a member of Christ’s Covenant Church in Winona Lake. Marilyn LOVED her husband, sons and grandchildren. Even her dogs knew they were loved…she had a never-ending supply of love and affection to give and will be dearly missed by all.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Norman Lee Roberts (Warsaw, Indiana); two sons: Randall Roberts (Valparaiso, Indiana); Rick (Marci) Roberts (Chesterton, Indiana); and eight grandchildren: Sophia, Max, William, Jacob, Rachelle, Danielle, Hannah, and Zachary. She also leaves behind her brother: Michael Metzger (Winona Lake, Indiana); three sisters: Tammy (David) Lawrenz (North Manchester, Indiana); Rebecca Schipper (Fort Wayne, Indiana); and Evelyn Meinert (Warsaw, Indiana). She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter.
