Marlene Joan Kimmel

Marlene Joan Kimmel of Fort Wayne, Indiana joined her Savior in Heaven at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2020  in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 87.  She was a former resident at Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, Indiana.

She was born on September 10, 1933 in Ligonier, Indiana.  Marlene was the oldest of 15 children born to Pauline Mildred (Huss) Moser and George Benjamin Moser.  She was married on April 29, 1952 to Gerald Dean Kimmel.  They shared 59 years of marriage together before he passed away on May 31, 2011.

She had been a resident in Fort Wayne for the past three years, and previously had enjoyed living at Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, Indiana.  Marlene made many friends while at Grace Village and attended services at Grace Village Chapel when she was able to.  She was a dedicated wife and mother, known for her hospitality and service to others.  She enjoyed fishing, traveling, walking the beaches, birdwatching and hosting others with her generosity and love. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter:  Deborah (Joe) Trahin (Fort Wayne, Indiana); three Sons:  Brad (Linda) Kimmel (Fort Wayne, Indiana); Barton (Shelley) Kimmel (Fishers, Indiana); Matthew (Michelle) Kimmel (Raleigh, North Carolina); 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerald, daughter, Jocelyn Hess and three siblings. 

A graveside service will be held at Covington Memorial Gardens of Fort Wayne, Indiana on Saturday October 10th, 2020 at 1:30 p.m.  Arrangements were entrusted with Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be directed to Grace Village Health Care, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, Indiana 46590.  As a memorial to Marlene the family asks that you do something kind for someone and share that its being done in her honor...it would be appreciated by the family.
