Mary Marlene Engle of North Manchester, Indiana passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 85.

She was born on August 21, 1935 in Claypool, Indiana, one of five children born to Florence (Ulrickson) Fuller-Smith and Thomas Herbert Fuller.  At the young age of 18 years old, she married the love of her life, Charles Edward Engle on November 2, 1953.  They raised three sons, enjoyed becoming grandparents and were blessed with 49 years of marriage together before he passed away on January 24, 2003.

Mary was a 1953 graduate of Silver Lake High School in Silver Lake, Indiana.  Over the years Mary had attended several churches and most recently she enjoyed worshiping and the fellowship of her church family at Center United Methodist Church of Silver Lake.  She loved to fish, enjoyed nature, especially birdwatching and one could always find her outside gardening.  Mary was great with her hands and was very talented at crocheting.  Her family and friends will dearly miss Mary’s daily inspirational verses and “Good Morning!” greetings that she would text.  She was full of love and always started the day thinking of others and she knew EVERYBODY’S birthday.  One would never be bored sitting next to Mary as she had a knack for telling stories and loved being around people.  She was a great cook and homemaker.  Her greatest and most important job during her lifetime was simply being Mom!  Plenty of love to go around with a smile and a hug.  Mary will forever be loved and dearly missed by her family and friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three boys:  Thomas “Tom” (Julia) Engle (South Whitley, Indiana); Wesley (Laura) Engle (Warsaw, Indiana); Charles Patrick “Pat” (Teresa) Engle (Warsaw, Indiana); nine grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are her two sisters:  Gladys Owens (Warsaw, Indiana); and Judy Kline (Warsaw, Indiana); and her beloved dog and companion, Charley.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Thomas Elliott Fuller and her sister, Nancy Jane Fuller Powel.

Mary’s life will be celebrated with a service at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Kent Harting.  There will be two hours of visitation prior to the service from 10:00 – 12:00 noon.   A graveside service will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be directed to The Gideons International, Memorial Bible Chairman, P.O. Box 766, Winona Lake, Indiana  46590-0766.
