Mary "Aunt Kat" Perry Obituary

We remain committed and prepared to safely care for the families we serve during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and want to stay within the government’s guidelines. Whenever possible, Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home will continue to enable families to participate in the rituals that are most important to them and allow them to be able to say their final good-bye to their loved one.  Should you feel the need to stay home, please do so....families will understand.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Mary Cathrine Perry of Warsaw, Indiana, affectionately known by everyone as Kat or Aunt Kat,  passed away at 4:22 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Warsaw Meadows Care Center at the age of 87.

She was born on July 6, 1932 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Elizabeth (Hughes) Perry and Charles Perry.

Mary graduated in 1951 from Prestonsburg High School.  She moved to Kosciusko County, Indiana in 1967 where she worked at Da-Lite Screen in Warsaw for many years.  After retiring she still was not one to sit still and worked at Walmart until the age of 82.  She attended Winona Lake Free Methodist Church in Winona Lake where she enjoyed fellowship with her Church Family.  Mary was an excellent woodworker and enjoyed making wooden toys which she delighted in giving to her friend’s children. She also made yearly contributions of homemade toys to an overseas mission working out of the local hospital.  Mary had a mind of her own and a giving heart.  She was proud of the efforts she and many of her friends made to feed and clothe the homeless and needy in Warsaw.  One had to be careful when admiring things that Mary had because she would usually pick them up and give them to you.  Mary lived her life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

She leaves behind her brother:  Frank Perry (Hurricane, West Virginia); and will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and five sisters.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.  Due to the current, unprecedented guidelines limiting public gatherings due to the COVID-19 virus and safety concerns, please use good judgment in determining the length of your visit or if you should attend. There will be no congregating in the parking lot and physical distancing of six feet is mandatory.

Mary’s life will be celebrated with a service following visitation at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Rick Hurley.

Mary’s wishes were to be buried back home in Kentucky, a graveside service will take place at Richmond Cemetery in Prestonsburg, Kentucky at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2020.  Friends and family are invited to stop by Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, 7 Clinic Drive, Martin, Kentucky from 11:00 – 12:00 noon to visit prior to the graveside service.
