Obituary

Due to the safety concerns by some individuals because of the COVID-19 virus, please use good judgment in determining the length of your visit or if you should attend.  Masks are not required but recommended for the visitation and service if crowded and six feet of social distancing cannot be maintained.

Nancy May Zellner formerly of Winona Lake, Indiana went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 3:59 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the age of 85.  She passed away at Paddock Springs Assisted Living Facility in Warsaw, Indiana.

She was born on January 8, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Ruth Margaret (Eberwein) and Edward Lewis.  At the young age of 23, she was married to the love of her life, Warren Earl Zellner on May 12, 1957.  They raised three children and shared the joy of becoming grandparents during their 62 years of marriage together before he passed away on November 16, 2019.

In 1960 Nancy and her husband, Warren, moved to Winona Lake, Indiana while he attended Grace College.  She had earned her nursing degree, and in 1963 she was hired as the Warsaw High School registered nurse.  A job she dearly loved as it suited her servant’s heart and caring nature.  She attended to thousands of students over the course of her 40-year nursing career at the school, retiring in 2003.

Nancy enjoyed her church family and the fellowship over the years as a long-standing member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church.  She loved to serve her Lord and was very active in the church.  She also served as a board member for Grace Village Retirement Community and Right to Life of North Central Indiana.  Nancy had many talents, she loved to play the piano and sing…and she couldn’t sing without smiling!  She knew the importance of spending time with family and enjoyed every second with them.  Nancy was a great cook and enjoyed entertaining and feeding her family and friends.  Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  Her infectious smile and her never ending love for others will be dearly missed but her devoted life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ is rewarded as she is now home!

She will be lovingly remembered by her son:  Brian (Brenda) Zellner (Lawrenceville, New Jersey); daughter:  Esther Zellner (Winona Lake, Indiana); son-in-law:  Eric Eickhoff (Goshen, Indiana); and her three beloved grandchildren:  Brooke, Brea and Brynna.  She also leaves behind her brother:  Ed Lewis (Winona Lake, Indiana); and her sister:  Margaret Lewis (Kissimmee, Florida).  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandchildren, David and Brianna Eickhoff, and her daughter Rebecca Eickhoff.

Nancy’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service that will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Bruce Barlow.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.  Nancy will be laid to rest next to her husband, Warren at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.

Memorial donations may be designated to Right to Life of North Central Indiana, P.O. Box 1162, Warsaw, Indiana  46581-1162.
