Phyllis Metta Dunlap of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 10:27 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at her residence at the age of 92.
She was born on November 2, 1927 in Rockford, Illinois to Maude (Larson) Christensen and Alfred Christensen. On October 22, 1949 she was married to Russel H. Dunlap. She shared 46 years of marriage together before he passed away on October 18, 1995.
She was a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for 32 years. She graduated from West Rockford High School, Rockford, Illinois and attended Rockford Business School. She helped her husband with his Christian ministry at Grace Brethren Home Missions. Phyllis was a longtime member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church where she was a familiar face and she very much enjoyed the fellowship with her church family. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons: Bradley R. (Luann) Dunlap (Columbia City, Indiana); Brian S. Dunlap (Warsaw, Indiana); two daughters: Beth Barnat (Warsaw, Indiana); Barbara (Brian) Kern (New Tripoli, Pennsylvania); nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, as well as four 4 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Fred Christensen, sister, Marion H. MacFarland, her granddaughter, Rebecca Barnat, nephew, Wes Christensen and her niece, Karen Miller.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. Phyllis’ life will be celebrated with a service immediately following visitation at 12:00 noon and officiated by Pastor Kip Cone. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana.
