Richard “Rich” Wroughton of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 11:51 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 64.
He was born on December 30, 1955 in Warsaw, Indiana to Gertrude Elaine (Alvey) Trudy Wroughton and Charles Richard Wroughton. He was married on August 22, 1977 to Cynthia “Cindy” Jane Stewart. They shared 43 years of marriage and raised five children before he passed away.
Rich graduated in 1974 from Crete-Monee High School in Crete, Illinois, earned his Bachelor’s degree from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana in 1978, and attended Seminary at Grace College graduating in 1979. He spent many years working as a substitute teacher in Warsaw and most recently he was a familiar part-time face at Walmart in Warsaw. He enjoyed worshiping with his church family at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church where he was the third grade Sunday School teacher. Rich was always involved in one activity or another, he loved playing the guitar, reading, acting in plays, and enjoyed going to the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts in Warsaw. He always made time for his children, and most of all he loved church and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rich was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Cindy J. Wroughton (Warsaw, Indiana); five children: Laura Wroughton, Jenny Wroughton (of Warsaw, Indiana); Ryan (Emma) Wroughton (Keokuk, Iowa); Rachel Brown (Warsaw, Indiana); and Carrie Castillo (Fort Wayne, Indiana). He also leaves behind his two grandchildren: Natalie and Zachary Brown; two brothers: Frank (Sandy) Wroughton (Crete, Illinois); Jon (Julie) Wroughton (Schererville, Indiana); sister: Jane (Kevin) Pepin (Waukesha, Wisconsin). He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Sue Howell.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
Rich’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Bruce Barlow. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, Indiana.
