Robert "Bob" Vickery Obituary

Robert "Bob" Lee Vickery of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at his residence surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the age of 80.

He was born on April 15, 1943, in Anderson, Indiana to Eloise (Smith) and Arthur Joseph Vickery.  On December 14, 2006, he married Ellen M. (Covert) Landis in Claypool, Indiana.  They were blessed to share the last 18 years together.

Bob grew up and attended school in Taylor, Michigan.  He moved to Warsaw, Indiana 50 years ago from Anderson, Indiana.  He also lived in Florida for a few years.  He was a hard-working man his entire life and was an electrician by trade.  He worked at Kimball Glass in Warsaw for nine years as well as the Gatke Corp in Warsaw.  Bob was a natural handyman, fixing practically anything!

He loved to serve his Lord alongside his church family at Bethel Baptist Church in Pierceton, Indiana where he was known as the “Candy Man”.  Bob was a longtime member of his church where he also served as trustee.  He also enjoyed the many friends he made as a former member of the American Legion Post #253 and V.F.W. both of North Webster, Indiana.   Most of all Bob dearly loved his family and was always available when he was needed.  He loved to kiss and hug his grandchildren, and enjoyed simply spending time with his family, from birthdays, holidays, graduations, weddings and everything in between.  He will forever be loved and remembered by those who loved him.

He leaves behind his wife, Ellen M. Vickery (Warsaw, IN); three sons, Scot (Rhonda) Vickery (Anderson, IN); Brian (Holly) Vickery (Warsaw, IN); Fred (Lindsay) Kreps (Pierceton, IN); two step-sons, Timothy Fred (Paula) Benge (Nocoma, TX); Terrance Lee (Stacy) Benge (Flanagan, IL); three daughters, Tammy Wholford (Mechanicsburg, PA); Angela Vickery (Warsaw, IN); and Teresa Purvis (TX).  Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph (Nancy) Vickery (Ft. Wayne, IN); Daniel Vickery (Muncie, IN); and his sister, Nadine (William) Mowery (North Webster, IN).  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Arthur William “Butch” Vickery, James David Vickery, sister, Phyllis Mann, granddaughter, Shaun Cress, and his great-grandson, Chazz.

Bob's life will be celebrated with a service on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Luke Neer.  Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the service from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.
