Rogelio Luis Basalo of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 83.
He was born on October 7, 1937 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Hilda Pavón Basalo and Rogelio Luis Basalo.
Rogelio spent the majority of his life in Argentina…born and educated. In 1962 he married Ana Esther San Miguel and made their home in Ituzaingó, Buenos Aires, Argentina where they raised their only son. For many years they owned and operated a grocery store. They shared 49 years of marriage together before she passed away on September 4, 2011.
In 1990 Rogelio joined the Argentine Air Force and at the time of his retirement in 2009 he was the director of social work for the Air Force. He loved the Air Force, it was his life, which suited his nature perfectly as he loved to help others through difficult times and hardships. Whether it was for his work life or in his personal life, he had a heart for helping those in need.
He was a hard worker, and one of his favorite hobbies was painting. He moved to Warsaw, Indiana in 2012 to live with his son and his family. He was a proud father and relished his role as a grandfather as he especially loved his grandchildren. He dearly loved his family and will be missed.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son: Diego (Kelly) Basalo (Warsaw, Indiana); and two grandchildren: Gabriel and Veronica Basalo (Warsaw, Indiana). He also leaves behind four sisters: Hilda, Edilia and Elsa Basalo (all of Argentina); and Elvira (Anibal) Basalo (Spain). He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother.
