Samual Remfrey Obituary

Samual Arnold Remfrey of Bourbon, Indiana passed away surrounded by family at 3:52 p.m.  on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, Indiana at the age of 83.

He was born on May 26, 1938 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Malissa Hackworth Remfrey Yates and Samual Arnold Remfrey.  Samual was married in August of 1965 to Katherine Juanita Blankenship.  They raised three children together, enjoyed their expanding family, sharing their lives throughout their 54 years of marriage together before she passed away on December 6, 2019.

Samual moved to Indiana when he was 12 years old and attended Claypool High School in Claypool, Indiana where he was a 1954-1956 all-star in several sports.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 29, 1961 and served until his honorable discharge on September 27, 1963.  While in the Army he served as an MP.

Samual was a hardworking man, spending 17 years working at the Arnolt Corporation in Warsaw as a supervisor, 15 years working at Flexsteel in New Paris until he retired at the age of 65.  He loved being involved and joining in activities with his children when they were growing up.  Samual enjoyed golfing, bowling, horror movies and old westerns.  In his later years he enjoyed working on his adult coloring books, telling life stories and discussions on world matters.  He was quite proud of the fact that he knew ALL the 50 states and their capitals in order.  Samual was a huge Kentucky fan but overall he was the biggest fan of his Lord and Savior.  For most of his life he had always been involved in church and most recently when he was able to attend he enjoyed worshipping at Claypool Full Gospel Church.  Samual will be forever loved and missed by his family and many friends.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son:  Joshua Wayne (Tara) Remfrey (Waterloo, Indiana); two daughters:  Regina (Jerry) Wadkins (Kimmell, Indiana); Sonja (Jeff) Lett (Bourbon, Indiana); twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Katherine, one grandson, his dog, Sugar and his cats, Gray, Bud and Lady.

Friends and family are invited to visit from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Graceland Cemetery in Claypool, Indiana and officiated by Jerry Wadkins.  Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw and active duty members of the Army Honor Guard.
