Sharon J. Fouts, and affectionately known by many as “Miss Sharon”, passed away at 5:18 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 81. She had been a resident of Syracuse, Indiana for past 17 years.
She was born on November 9, 1936 in Gary, Indiana to Eugene Glotzbach and Marjorie (Murray) Glotzbach Studdy. On August 13, 1955 she was married to John B. Fouts, who survives.
Sharon was a 1955 graduate of Wendell L. Wilkie High School in Elwood, Indiana. She worked as the Children’s Director and as a Library Clerk for the Elwood Public Library for many years, and when she moved to Kosciusko County, Indiana she worked at Milford Public Library in Milford where she enjoyed being a member of Friends of the Library. Sharon enjoyed keeping active in the community and was a member of the Columbia Reading Club, volunteered with Harvest with a Heart in Milford, as well as the Milford Food Pantry. She especially enjoyed having her girl’s night out, and was a member of St. Martin De Porres Parish in Syracuse. Sharon will be dearly missed by her family and countless friends.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, John B. Fouts (Syracuse, Indiana); son: James (Shannon Tribley) Fouts (Rochester, Indiana); two daughters: JoAnne (Kevin) Williams (Warsaw, Indiana); Judith (Bob) Fischer (Hebron, Indiana); daughter-in-law: Cheryl Fouts (Warsaw, Indiana); thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother: Jack (RaeAnn Goens) Glotzbach (Elwood, Indiana); and her sister: Verna Wilt (Muncie, Indiana). She was preceded in death by her parents, son, John Kevin Fouts, grandson, John Norris, brother, Thomas Glotzbach, and her sister, Carol Groover.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at St. Joseph Church, 1306 South A Street, Elwood, Indiana. Burial will follow with a graveside service at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery of Elwood, Indiana. Arrangements were entrusted with Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
