Shelly Yvonne Garrett of Peru, Indiana and formerly of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 11:42 a.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 52.
She was born on October 1, 1968 in Warsaw, Indiana to Arlene Yvonne (Munson) Ryan and Dean Alden Ryan.
Shelly was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana where she was a 1987 graduate of Wawasee High School in Syracuse, Indiana. She attended St. Francis University in Fort Wayne, Indiana and earned her nursing degree in 1990. She had a caring heart and nursing was her calling. She was kind and caring to the residents of Warsaw Meadows Care Center in Warsaw for the 19 years she served as a registered nurse. Then for a number of years she worked at Life Care Center in Rochester, Indiana prior to having to retire early due to ill health. Shelly was always a very charismatic person, a warm and caring individual with a great sense of humor. Most of all she dearly loved her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She will be forever loved and remembered by her family the many friends she leaves behind.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Courtney Bowling (Warsaw, Indiana); Holly Bowling (Peru, Indiana); and her grandson: Benjamin Whitaker (Peru, Indiana). Also surviving is her mother: Arlene Yvonne Ryan (North Webster, Indiana); and her sister: Deana (Jim) Pancake (North Webster, Indiana). She was preceded in death by her father, Dean Ryan in 2007.
Shelly’s life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Craig Fritchley. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana.
