Shirley Mae Greer formerly of Syracuse, Indiana passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Solaris Healthcare in Port Charlotte, Florida at the age of 85.
She was born on September 16, 1934 in Silver Lake, Indiana to Alice (Courtney) Gaut and Arthur Hogan. She was married to Leonard H. Greer who has since passed away.
Shirley lived for many years in Syracuse, Indiana where she raised her children and was a proud homemaker. She was a strong-willed and opinionated woman. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and then watching them become parents. Shirley wasn’t your typical grandma, but she loved the many different personalities of her great-grandchildren. Later in her life she moved to Port Charlotte, Florida where she passed away and will be dearly missed by her Florida family and her Indiana family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Marcia (Mike) Cashatt (North Port Charlotte, Florida); Marcia (LeRoy) Moon (Elkhart, Indiana); ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and her daughters-in-law: Barbara Vandermark (Larwill, Indiana) and Sue Greer (Warsaw, Indiana).
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and her two sons, Chuck Greer and Robert “Bob” Vandermark.
