Stanley "Stan" Alspaugh Obituary

Stanley “Stan” E. Alspaugh of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 10:44 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Bremen Hospital, Bremen, Indiana at the age of 70.

He was born on March 20, 1951 in Warsaw, Indiana to Evelyn Louise (Funk) Alspaugh and Waveland D. Alspaugh.  On April 7, 1973 he married a great lady by the name of Margaret “Peggy” Ann Ehmcke.  They spent their lives doing everything together from raising their children to becoming grandparents throughout their 48 years of marriage until he passed away.

Stan was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana where he enjoyed attending Wawasee Lakeside Chapel in Syracuse, Indiana with his family.  He was a hard worker and was always dependable, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Elkhart County Gravel.  Stan also operated his own excavating business, Stan’s Excavating for over 10 years in Warsaw.  He was always a real hands-on type of guy, a problem solver and would help out anyone in need.

One of his favorite past times was golfing!  Stan loved it when he could spend a great day out on the course at Maxwelton Golf Club in Syracuse where he was a longtime member.  He generally enjoyed being outdoors, either riding his bicycle with his family, going for drives and taking in God’s beauty from the windows of their car.  Stan also had a little bit of a competitive side when he played table games with family and friends.  He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed the company of people and could start up a conversation with anyone since he never knew a stranger.  Stan got a kick out of talking to children, anyone’s children!  More than anything in this world he LOVED his family and his family dearly loved him.  Stan will forever be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife:  Peggy Alspaugh (Warsaw, Indiana); three sons:  Michael (Rachelle) Alspaugh (Garland, Texas); Matthew (Chrissy) Alspaugh (Columbus, Indiana); and Mark Alspaugh (Fort Wayne, Indiana).  Also surviving are his seven grandchildren:  Juan, David, Reese, Dane, Kase, Jaxon, and Wes; two brothers:  Roger (Kitty) Alspaugh (Ohio); Michael (Angela) Alspaugh (Warsaw, Indiana); and three sisters:  Sue Anders (Warsaw, Indiana); Nancy (Ron) Mason (Syracuse, Indiana); Debbie Alspaugh (Warsaw, Indiana).  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Barbara Polson and Joann McElfresh.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.  Stanley’s life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Brad Cox.  A graveside service will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Claypool, Indiana.
